Symbolism in the novel : Of Mice And Men

The american dream is sort of a hidden meaning in the novel.
The Farm they dream of is that wish for freedom, independence and wealth, which is also what the American Dream is.
Candy's dog symbolizes weakness, yet he is worth being loved and deserves a life as much as every other creature, as much as he suffers though, it is better to set him free and put him down.
